4. Example of smartPCN implementation at Alstom

To speed up the introduction and application of smartPCN, Alstom has chosen D+D+M GmbH (an IIOM partner company) as its partner. D+D+M GmbH developed its own pcn.global database in 2016 as a repository for PCNs and PDNs received in manual format from suppliers and digitized by their experts.

Using pcn.global and the associated pcn.cockpit ^® system, Alstom can identify the smartPCNs that correspond to the parts used and manage them as part of a controlled process (see figure 10 ).
