The Earth's climate is mainly determined by three factors: solar energy, the greenhouse effect and atmospheric and oceanic circulation. .
Thanks to the presence of greenhouse gases naturally present in the atmosphere (mainly water vapour and carbon dioxide), the solar energy re-emitted by the earth's soils in the form of infrared radiation is not completely expelled into space.
