1. Identify substances and characterize hazards

To carry out a health risk assessment, you need to :

  • identify all substances likely to be emitted by the site (quantify them where possible);

  • select potentially dangerous chemical substances, i.e. those for which toxicity has been demonstrated;

  • identify the different types of population in the vicinity of the site (identification of potential targets).
