5. Our advice

5.1 Control the explosive range to manage your ATEX risk

As a general rule, the simplest element of the explosion hexagon to control in terms of both feasibility and cost remains the explosive range, i.e. ensuring that the air/gas or air/dust mixture in suspension remains below explosive concentrations. In this case, an efficient ventilation system (strong and available) should be set up, with a failure detection system – and an operating procedure in the event of a detected failure.
