2. Identify sources of BAT

BREFs, or Best REFerences, are media describing BATs, which are existing or emerging techniques used in a given industry. BREFs evolve simultaneously with BATs. Their development is therefore a dynamic process.

To date, 33 BREF documents have been adopted and translated into French; the first were launched in May 2001 and the latest in March 2008.
