1. Understanding the concept of land-clearing authorization

The principle is that all land clearing requires prior authorization from the authorities.

Clearing authorization requires :

• the presence of wooded land;

• a land-clearing operation.

Prior to 1 ^er March 2017, this authorization was independent of the prefectoral authorization issued under ICPE regulations.

Since 1 ^er March 2017, clearing authorization has been included in the environmental authorization.
