2. How does CSS work?

2.1 Composition and chairmanship of a CSS

The commission is made up of at least one member chosen from each of the following five colleges:

  • yourself, or a person you have appointed to represent you, chosen from your company or a professional organization (e.g., trade federation or union);

  • State administrations, with at least one representative of the departmental prefect (the police prefect in Paris) and the department responsible for inspecting classified facilities;

  • elected representatives of the local authorities or public inter-municipal cooperation establishments concerned (e.g., representative of the commune in which the plant is located);
