5. How do you determine the maximum overpressure peak?
In practice, determining the peak means choosing an explosion severity index. Simply put, the more congested the zone, the more violent the explosion. In the Multi-Energy application, this violence is reflected in the choice of a severity index ranging from 1 to 10, each index corresponding to a maximum level of overpressure likely to be reached in the cloud.
The severity index10 corresponds to the effects of a detonation; intermediate indices correspond to deflagrations (i.e. explosions with slower flame speeds).
