Installations classified under this regime are subject to common provisions via registration decrees and general prescriptions decrees. Registration applications can be submitted as soon as the ministerial orders are published, setting out the precise general technical requirements applicable to these facilities.

Like the authorization order, the registration order is specific to the facility. It is made up of various elements.

• The overall classification of the site is specified, with a description of the site's activity by heading, the wording of the heading (activity), the nature of the installation and the volume. The registration order issued concerns the nature and volume of the activity defined.
