Is it possible to contest the formal notice?

Yes, the formal notice order can :

• be the subject of an appeal to the prefect; the aim is to ask him to reconsider his decision for reasons that are made explicit;

• To be referred to the administrative judge by the operator; this involves requesting the cancellation of the formal notice for reasons that are made explicit.

Please note: the deadline for taking action is very short. It is two months from the date on which the formal notice is served, or from the Prefect's decision rejecting the appeal.
