3. Socio-technical characterization of vegetable gardens

The aim of the project was to improve knowledge of the production of self-produced foodstuffs in private kitchen gardens located on the Metaleurop workshop site. To this end, surveys were carried out among gardeners to characterize management methods, define the share of self-produced vegetables in eating habits, and determine gardeners' acceptability of a change in cultivation and consumption habits for self-produced vegetables.

3.1 Survey and selection of vegetable gardens

The study area covered the zone contaminated with more than 200 mg of Pb and/or 4 mg of Cd per kg of soil defined by the Metaleurop public interest project.
