1.1 At the global level
On the planet, water is found in liquid, solid (snow, ice) and gaseous (water vapor) forms. It is stored in reservoirs: oceans, seas, lakes, rivers, groundwater, glaciers and snow, the atmosphere, soil and living organisms. The volumes of water contained in the various reservoirs are given in table 1 .
