5. Flotation

Some waters (lakes, dams in particular) are relatively clear, but colored or rich in algae: they then require high doses of coagulant without the floc being weighed down by matter initially suspended in the raw water; on such waters, settling is therefore often difficult (unless the cohesive forces exerted within a sludge bed device like the Pulsator are played upon).
