Biopolymer; biopolymer
Polymer derived from biomass, whether plant, animal or fungal.
Oligomer; oligomer
Low-molecular-weight polymer, composed of few repeating units. This number is generally less than ten.
Polymer monolith
In the context of polymers, monolith refers to a porous, cross-linked polymer resin. As such, the polymer is "infusible" and cannot be dissolved in a solvent.
HIPE; HIPE
High Internal Phase Emulsion is an emulsion with a highly concentrated dispersed phase. The internal phase ratio must exceed 74% to be properly defined as HIPE. By misnomer, "HIPE" is sometimes referred to as "polyHIPE".
