5. Conclusion

In this article, the main aspects of microwave spectroscopy have been presented, focusing on experimental techniques. In particular, the Fourier transform microwave pulse spectrometer (FTMW) coupled with a supersonic jet has been introduced to give the reader an idea of one of the most widely used techniques in the world for recording pure rotation spectra. This type of spectrometer allows very high resolutions and high sensitivities to be achieved. Recording the spectrum over a wide frequency range (several hundred MHz) typically takes several hours. Technological developments over the last twenty years have led to the development of another type of spectrometer, the frequency-shifted microwave pulse spectrometer (CP-FTMW).
