2.1 Effect of C content and chemical composition in general
The choice of six steels, combined for the occasion with a complementary grade (C22E), enables us to cover a range of contents between 0.22 and 0.6% and an Ms value (hardenability parameter) between 255°C and 430°C.
The results in table 1 show that the residual stresses estimated by DRX are very close from one grade to another, despite the differences in chemical composition and hardness.
