INTRODUCTION
Lauze roofs have been used in France, mainly in mountainous regions, for centuries. Their advantages, such as strength, insulation and aesthetic appeal, are undeniable. Nevertheless, lauze has some major drawbacks, which explain why this type of roofing is tending to disappear. The material has become rare and expensive, and specialized craftsmen are few and far between.
