INTRODUCTION
Frequency synthesis consists in generating a signal of a different frequency from a signal supplied by a reference oscillator. The frequency stability of the reference oscillator is then transferred to the generated signal, whose frequency corresponds to the user's needs.
By extension, a frequency synthesizer is an instrument that generates a signal in a given frequency range, whose frequency and amplitude can be adjusted, and on which frequency, phase or amplitude modulation can be imposed.
