France's potential is over 120 TWh/year on seven sites totaling 6,000 km ² and 350 km of main dike.

Studies in Great Britain have focused on the exceptional Severn site, and, as in most other countries, have been based on the use of bulb groups. For the reasons explained above, these studies have resulted in a cost well in excess of 100 E/MWh and environmental problems linked to changes in level.
