2. Magnusson and Kligman's Guinea Pig Maximization Test (M&K - OECD test no. 406: skin sensitization)
The method combines intradermal injections and epidermal application. It uses Freund's complete adjuvant and sodium lauryl sulfate to stimulate the sensitization-inducing reaction.
Induction takes place through a number of different processes.
Day 0 – treatment group: three pairs of 0.1 ml intradermal injections are performed in the hair-free shoulder area, so that one injection of each pair is located on each side of the midline of the body:
