Detecting sensitizing substances through animal and human testing

A dubious test result, especially if it doesn't classify your substance, risks passing on a sensitizing substance which can be revealed in employees who come into contact with your substance. However, in the case of abusive sensitizing classification, it can severely restrict the use of your substance unnecessarily.

Repeat the test as advised by the OECD in guideline no. 406: "The LLNA or MEST can be used in an initial phase of the evaluation of skin sensitization potential. If a test substance gives a positive result in either of these tests, it can be considered a potential sensitizer, and it may not be necessary to carry out a further test on the guinea pig.
