The planet's average temperature rose by 0.6°C in the 20th century, and that of France by 0.9°C. Over the coming century, it is set to rise by at least 1.4°C, and by as much as 5.8°C if we do nothing. This considerable change is on a scale unprecedented in tens of thousands of years. It has now been established with certainty that this phenomenon is due to the increase in greenhouse gas emissions linked to human activities, starting with carbon dioxide (CO ₂ ).

Man's industrial activities generate increasing quantities of greenhouse gases. Although they help to produce the greenhouse effect, too many of them push global temperatures to artificially high levels, thereby altering the climate....
