8. Outlook: Toward an “Integrated Lighting” Strategy

Public lighting is currently evolving toward more adaptive systems based on remote management, adjustable light levels, and the gradual integration of connected services. These technologies make it possible to tailor lighting to actual usage, improve energy management, and enhance performance monitoring.

Beyond these technical advancements, lighting is increasingly becoming part of a broader regional approach that integrates the environmental, social, and economic dimensions of nighttime. Taking into account nighttime activities, the quality of the living environment, and ecological challenges leads to viewing light as a full-fledged planning tool in its own right: this is what can be described as an “integrated lighting” approach.
