5. Technological and Methodological Drivers of Transformation

Changes in public lighting policies rely largely on the rapid evolution of technologies and operational tools. Today, these enable strategies that combine energy efficiency, operational optimization, and a reduced environmental footprint. The following subsections present the main drivers behind this trend.

5.1 Evolution of Lighting Technologies

The widespread adoption of LED (Light-Emitting Diode) technologies is one of the main drivers of transformation in street lighting systems. The latest modules achieve luminous efficiencies exceeding 180 lm/W, compared to the 80 to 130 lm/W of high-pressure sodium lamps, making it possible to significantly reduce installed power while improving photometric quality.
