2.1 Chemical Looping Combustion (CLC)
In this process, illustrated in figure 1 , the carbonaceous fuel is burned with oxygen supplied by an oxygen-carrying material, generally a metal oxide (MeO α ). At the outlet of the first reactor (combustion reactor), fumes consisting mainly of carbon dioxide and water vapor are obtained, along with the oxygen carrier in its reduced state (MeO α–1 ).
