3.1 Knowledge management

Knowledge management is one of the main applications of the three ISA standards. They are widely used to document industrial control applications: specifications, design-specification, tests, system usage documentation.

The metamodel thus provides a coherent structure for organizing the documentation of the information support of an associated industrial system:

• lifecycle phases (business needs, specification....);

• the time dimension (business process management, physical process management and control, equipment control);

• the operational category (production, maintenance, quality, inventory);
