5. Activity scheduling

The scheduling function involves committing the necessary resources, at the right time, to best meet the company's performance objectives (availability, costs, etc.). It takes its place between preparation and execution. Based on information from the preparation stage, indicating the workload, constraints and resources required in terms of skills, tools and spare parts, it determines when the task can be carried out, and by whom. Finally, it provides and manages all these resources.

This is the scheduling "function". Depending on how the company is organized, the task of deciding who is to carry out the work may fall to a preparer or any other maintenance manager.
