Comparative tests: tests on different products fulfilling similar usage functions, the results of which provide the consumer with objective information on the performance he can expect from these products.

Programmed obsolescence: or planned obsolescence, is the process by which a good becomes obsolete because it is no longer usable or "fashionable" as a result of a strategy programmed or planned by companies. The shortening of the product's lifespan is considered right from the design stage.

Standard: set of specifications describing an object or process, used as a rule and technical reference. A standard is not mandatory, compliance with it being a voluntary act. Some standards are made mandatory by a regulatory text or decree.
