3. A future for Kansei

Kansei engineering is a method born in Japan which connects the Kansei of users to product characteristics, in order to design products more in line with the Kansei. Kansei engineering is a process involving a number of techniques (some of them mathematical) which enable the previously defined objective to be achieved. Although its implementation often requires considerable resources, Kansei engineering remains a method that has proved its worth through its successful application in a number of industrial fields.

This field of research and industrial development has also expanded to include other approaches, the "Kansei studies", which aim to better understand subjective perception of the environment and its behavioral consequences, in order to integrate considerations into the design of products and services.
