2. Kansei studies

Kansei engineering is undoubtedly the most highly-developed Kansei-related field in existence today. However, a number of other academic and industrial fields have also developed considerably over the past decade or more.

In this section, we will open the presentation to other Kansei fields, to give the reader a broader view of the presence of Kansei in Japan's industrial and academic worlds. This will be done in two ways: a description of the evolution and current situation of Kansei in Japan and Europe, followed by a description of the "Kansei" concept. This description is a work in progress carried out by the author within the "21 st Century COE Program" research group, and is in no way presented as a description recognized by the entire Japanese community working on Kansei, even if this is its objective.
