ABSTRACT

Analyzing, organizing, memorizing and sharing knowledge between the various members of a company has currently become a major challenge for the development of organizations. Be this related to the knowledge capitalized within or outside of the company, it is currently necessary to manage such knowledge in order to foster the innovation processes and the activities of the company while reducing the impact of knowledge leakage. The principles, tools and methods in order to achieve this must be implemented in the most appropriate way.

 INTRODUCTION

The economic environment in which organizations operate has changed radically since the 1990s. Effective knowledge management is now a sine qua non for innovation in business processes and activities, and even for organizational survival. Recent tools not only facilitate knowledge management, but also define new ways of collaborating and sharing knowledge between employees.

Such tools need to be properly implemented, based on sound governance principles, while not overlooking the role of the human capital present in the organization. A virtuous circle must thus emerge between hardware, software and peopleware, in order to capitalize on the tacit and codified knowledge held both by the organization and through its formal and informal networks.

Only by taking these factors into account will organizations be able to face up to the new challenges ahead, minimize the impact of the knowledge drain and meet the needs of a new generation of employees who have grown up with Web-based communication tools.
