4. Logistics, international transport and customs management

The preceding paragraphs have shown that international transport, and logistics in general, are major factors in the efficiency and performance of any company. The international environment, with its greater distances and different administrative and legal systems, makes this function even more important in determining global competitiveness.

After careful consideration, international logistics management includes the choice of :

• an Incoterm to be defined in the contract or offer;

• a means of transport ;

• a service provider capable of handling the entire transport process;

• a suitable insurance package;

• a customs procedure to be defined.
