3. Industrialization
Industrialization can be defined as the means and methods needed to move from research and studies to a workshop or factory capable of delivering a product that meets defined specifications, within budget, on time and in line with the company's ethics.
This important process is entrusted to what are commonly known as design offices, engineering departments in process industries or methods offices in manufacturing industries.
It applies the company's know-how in the design phases, especially when it comes to the "heart" of the process. For example, an aerobic fermentation process combines an air compressor and a fermenter. The fermenter is part of the biotech company's know-how, while the compressor is the know-how of its supplier. Many tasks are entrusted to subcontractors, mainly during the detailed engineering and construction phases....
