The choice of different secondary packaging solutions depends on various criteria, or constraints, most of which remain the same for ready-to-sell packaging:
the shape of the primary packaging (the consumer sales unit): regular or non-regular geometry, for example;
whether the consumer unit is load-bearing or not (vertical compressive strength or RCV): type of material, for example;
types of packaging lines used by the industrial packer: output capacity, for example;
logistical information: basic dimensions for transport, PCBs (if suitable), expected level of traceability,...
