Défaillance; failure

Loss of an asset's ability to perform a required function.

Degradation; degradation

Adverse change in physical condition, with time, use or due to an external cause.

Maintenance; maintenance

All the technical, administrative and management actions during the life cycle of an asset, designed to maintain or restore it to a state in which it can perform the required function.

Conditional preventive maintenance; condition-based maintenance

Preventive maintenance, which includes assessment of physical conditions, analysis and any ensuing maintenance actions.

Prescriptive preventive maintenance; prescriptive maintenance
