5. Metavers
The term "metaverse", derived from the Greek meta (beyond) and vers (universe), has become as popular as that of artificial intelligence (AI). However, there is no single, precise definition of metaverse. According to the Larousse dictionary, it's "a parallel, immersive digital universe where you can evolve and interact (work, play, establish relationships, etc.), in the image of real life". Neal Stephenson, who popularized the term in 1992 in his science-fiction novel Snow Crash (The Virtual Samurai), describes the metaverse as "a three-dimensional virtual universe where people interact through avatars".
