2.1 Defining equipment criticality

The adoption of predictive maintenance requires technical, methodological, organizational and human investment, with significant financial costs. It is therefore essential to select only those items of equipment whose failures are considered critical. Today, for equipment to be considered critical and justify predictive maintenance, it must have serious consequences in the event of failure, notably on production, the safety of goods and people, the environment, costs, regulatory compliance and organizational resilience.
