1. Variety of cables and processes

This section presents the various product lines. In general, cable manufacturing involves three main steps:

  • the manufacture of the core wire by applying an insulating layer to the electrical conductor (copper) or to the fiber;

  • the assembly of the various individual strands obtained;

  • the sheathing of this assembly to produce the final cable.

There are three main types of cables. These are telecommunications cables made with wires containing a conductive core (for transmitting data via electrical signals), telecommunications cables made with optical fibers (for transmitting data via optical signals), and electrical power transmission cables.
