3. Application to twin-screw extrusion
3.1 Influence of operating conditions on final microstructure
To test the influence of operating conditions on the dispersion of OMMT, we consider a laboratory-scale extruder, whose screw profile is shown in figure 9 . The screws have a diameter D of 24 mm and a length L of 960 mm (L/D = 40). The sheath consists of 10 elements. A premix of PP and PP-g-MA pellets is fed into sheath 1, while the OMMT is fed into sheath 3, after the melting zone. With the exception of the former, all furnace elements are regulated at 180°C. After the melting zone, the screw profile consists of conveying elements and five blocks of mixing elements, with different offset angles
