2. Mechanical properties

Table 1 shows the characteristics of the various materials that can be processed into RIM.

Note the high tensile strength of PDCPD compared with polyurethane, as well as its flexural modulus, while elongation at break remains in the intermediate range.

The applications of compact, elastomeric polyurethanes are quite different from those of rigid polyurethanes, since their properties differ essentially in terms of tensile elongation at break, which in the case of elastomeric polyurethanes allows considerable deformation during use.
