 INTRODUCTION

New technologies make it possible to produce numerous compact and powerful sources, both for lighting and for use in processes, with technical characteristics that are far removed from those of conventional sources, and therefore likely to generate additional risks. From the point of view of prevention, it is difficult to access physical data on lamp emissions. As far as incoherent sources are concerned, civil society has benefited little from military research, which, on the other hand, has rapidly and extensively addressed the harmful effects of laser sources on biological tissues. In this article, we propose methods for assessing the luminous risk posed by artificial incoherent radiation, as well as collective and individual means of protection.

This article follows on from [SL 6 155] and [SL 6 156] on the regulatory framework and light risk analysis of artificial incoherent sources.
