1. How can I find out which zones on a site are classified as ATEX?

The first step in choosing ATEX equipment is to determine the type of zone in which it is to be installed. To do this, it is necessary to consult the explosion protection document (DRPCE). It should be remembered that these zones must be optimized, otherwise the company will be faced with large volumes or numerous zones, and compliance costs will be higher.

1.1 The different types of ATEX zones

As a reminder, this DRPCE contains a map of ATEX zones with their categories. These zones are divided up as follows:

  • zone 0/zone 20: location where an explosive atmosphere is present permanently, for long periods or frequently ;

  • zones 1/zone 21: locations where an explosive atmosphere...
