8. Our advice

8.1 Pay close attention to the various steps listed in the Grid for justifying and monitoring actions for the safe use of chemicals.

In step 1, you'll need to be alert to the many names and abbreviations used to describe the same product by different people, departments, suppliers and computer applications. Identify products by the trade name given by the supplier, then, using the SDS or label, identify the substances present by their international chemical name "IUPAC", CAS numbers and European inventory numbers (EINECS, EILINCS, NLP, INDEX, Registration No.).

For steps 3 and 4, maintain a regular technological watch to demonstrate that the best available techniques have been taken into account in the analysis.
