2.1 Environmental policy – Chapter 4.2 of ISO 14001

An environmental policy must be defined and validated by General Management. The policy is a document that sets out management's commitment to the environment:

  • It defines the organization's position with regard to pollution prevention.

  • It must include a commitment to continuous improvement and to meeting legal and other requirements.

  • It must be adapted to the organization's context.

  • It provides a framework for defining the organization's environmental objectives.
