3.1 Animal foods and cancer

The nature of the diet and the toxic substances it may contain are likely to play a major role in the development of certain cancerous tumors [26] . One-third of cancer mortality worldwide is attributed to diet and the presence of toxic substances in food. In fact, the food or toxic substance in question can play a promotional role, promoting the carcinogenic effect.

The effect of promoters depends on the nature and balance of the diet. However, the dietary factor cannot be the sole cause of cancerous disease.
