7. Equipment for bulk transport
7.1 Types of containers authorized for bulk shipping
Similar to the "packing instructions" system applicable to packages, the ADR uses a "code" to indicate the different types of bulk transport equipment that can be used by UN number, again in Table A of Chapter 3.2.
In somewhat simplified terms, when transporting dangerous goods, there are two main types of equipment for bulk containers:
On the one hand, equipment that is not attached to a vehicle chassis, sometimes referred to as "mobile" equipment, can be transferred not only from one road vehicle to another using standard handling equipment, but also from one mode of transport to another, since it can often be transported equally well on a vehicle, a rail car, or a ship....
