7.1 Authorization for 44-ton trucks (Highway Code)

Decree No. 2012-1359 and the order of December 4, 2012, regarding the maximum gross vehicle weight of motor vehicles on land have, since January 1, 2013, allowed the maximum gross vehicle weight (GVW) of a truck to be increased from 40 to 44 tons. Until then, France was one of the last countries to have a 40-ton limit.

We’re talking about 44-tonne transport, but it’s important to note that this category includes all vehicles with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 40 tonnes.
