2.1 Choosing living organisms for biomonitoring

Virtually all living organisms in the air, land and water (viruses, bacteria, animals, plants) can be used to biomonitor pollution, and many of them have already been applied, either alone or in association [2][3] . However, it is plants (higher plants, lichens and mosses) that are of greatest interest for biomonitoring, thanks to :
