ITR; ITRs

ITRs, for Inverted Terminal Repeats, are repeated, inverted sequences found at the ends of certain viral genomes. In the case of AAVs, these sequences form hairpin structures at each end of single-stranded viral DNA. They are involved in genome replication, integration into host cell chromosome 19, and viral encapsidation.
