3. Oxycombustion processes

These processes, applied in the thermal treatment of waste, are incineration processes based on the use of enriched air (O 2 > 21%), or else pure oxygen as the oxidizing gas in the waste combustion process.

By reducing or eliminating the nitrogen ballast in the oxidizer, the effective volume of fumes generated during combustion can be reduced to a greater or lesser extent. This can be reduced from 6,500-7,500 Nm 3 /t to 2,500-5,000 Nm 3 /t, depending on the degree of oxygen enrichment of the oxidizer, compared with standard air, leading to a reduction in the volume of heat treatment plants and downstream flue gas treatment devices, for identical residence times.
